Working to reduce criminal victimization

and unwarranted fear of crime affecting the elderly

La Porte County TRIAD is a local, non-profit program of the National Sheriff's Association that teams local law enforcement agencies and senior organizations to work toward reducing criminal victimization and unwarranted fear of crime affecting older adults.

Chartered in 2006, the La Porte County TRIAD has successfully launched many programs that aim to keep seniors safe in our community.

The goals of TRIAD are to:

  • Educate -  TRIAD sponsors crime prevention and victim/witness programs for older persons.
  • Assist - Recruit and train volunteers to assist the police and sheriff’s department.
  • Emphasize - Staff reassurance programs for older adults to reduce fear and provide moral support.
  • Communicate -  Provide a forum for law enforcement to share needs and concerns and then develop solutions.
  • Involve - Unite seniors, sheriffs, state and local police to identify problem areas for seniors in the community then develop and implement community wide solutions.
